Reindeer's Alternative Music Program
Reindeer’s Alternative Music Program is a
performing arts education outreach that outlines and analyzes the skills
and experiences of modern-day performing artists, combines them with
state and local learning objectives, and serves it all up in a creative
hands-on curriculum by which students are not only empowered but are
also able to earn academic credit.
RAMP presents contemporary music industry topics in a way that is fun to all the students—whether they approach the course from the perspective of a performer, writer, business mogul, producer, marketing rep, or simply as a music enthusiast.
RAMP’s first course, “Introduction To The Music Industry,” embraces 45 hours of educational programming, divided into five Units: Songwriting, The Recording Studio Experience, Music Video Production, Live Event Production and Marketing. Each of the five Units is explored in nine (9) hours of instructional time—12 Chapters presented via 45-minute DVDs. The entire course is comprised of sixty (60) DVD sessions.
RAMP’s mission is to provide a fun and safe environment in which students will have an opportunity to explore the world of the music industry while gaining academic credit. Through RAMP (and Alternative Education) students will learn about the potential careers and what it takes to become a part of them. The program includes 45 hours of unique and innovative DVD instruction that integrates the Maine Learning Results into a hands on contemporary approach to performing arts education.
We have designed a full-color brochure which describes RAMP, outlines the curriculum and invites folks to support our efforts with a tax-deductible contribution (the various levels of support are listed below). The brochure can be downloaded here and contributions can be mailed to Reindeer Group Inc., PO Box 8238, Portland, ME 04104. Online donations can also be made by clicking on the "Donate" button below.
Our goal is to raise $145,000 to successfully create, produce and implement the curriculum that can then be self-sustaining. Fundraising efforts are on-going and include numerous fundraising events, grants, underwriting, in-kind contributions, and corporate and private donations for the funding levels below:
